Remote operation of nsw dams by mid 2017

1 January, 2017 – The Queensland Government today announced that on 1 January 2017, construction crews will begin operating the first two Nesbitt dams on the west coast. The NSW and Queensland Governments have agreed to ente전립선r into contracts to deliver this infrastructure as a part of the Government’s new multi-billion dollar National Infrastructure program.

The first dam, on the Nesbitt River, will be a 20MW turbine-powered dam that will generate about 18MW of electricity when operating from early summer to late fall (20 August to 29 September) each year. The Nesbitt dam will offer greater protection to key sites on the river (a dam, a riverbank and the Nesbitt River itself, along with the site associated with Queensland’s state and national parks) compared to other dams on the river.

The first two dams, along with other dams, will be placed on a centralised, low-traffic crossing between the Nesbitt River and the Queensland coast. These dams will be equipped with dual-level flood protection and will have built-in dams.

Numerous environmental and social impacts are expected from the Nesbitt dams, which will reduce flooding in areas that are prone to heavy flooding and that have previously been underlain by dams. This will include:

The removal of sediment by the turbines in the Nesbitt River, and thereby lowering flows and forcing deeper water away from the river basin;

Innovation of the dam structure to provide better, safer and quieter operation;

Improved downstream water quality and sedimentation;

Improvement of the flood plain and drainage in the Nesbitt River and the adjacent Basin Regional District.

“For the last 20 years, Queensland has been looking for natural resources that could be integrated with our economy and national prosperity진주안마 and we have identified Nesbitt Dam as the perfect example of this. The Nesbitt dams are one of four major dams on the Nesbitt River that will help create significant jobs and economic growth, in addition to a valuable recreation asset for the state,” said Prem우리카지노계열ier Campbell Newman.

“These two dams will save the state money by producing electricity that is cheaper for Queenslanders and by removing significant sediment from the river’s bed, as well as helping to reduce flooding by controlling the flow and sediment in the river basin.”
